Mt. Sorak is most beautiful mountain in South Korea. The highest summit, Daechungbong is 1708 meters high. Mt. Sorak is well known for its beauty - spring flowers, summer valley, autumn leaves, winter snowscape, etc. (Royal azalea in spring, mystic valleys and water in summer, crimson maple in autumn, and the snowy scene change around its figure in every season.) Once you experience the mysterious power of Mt. Sorak, you will love the mountain. Hange Pass(Hangeryoung) and Mishi Pass as a boundary, the west face is called Naesorak, the east is Waesorak and the south is Namsorak.

In Waesorak, there are many great waterfalls and cliffs - Chonbooldong valley, Woolsan-Bawi, Kwankeumseong, Kumgang Cave, Guimyunam, Biryong falls, Oryeon falls, Towangsung falls, and so on.
In Naesorak, there are many wonderful valleys. -Bakdam, Suryundong, Gugokdam, Gayadong, Shibiseonnyeotang, Yongajangseong, Guitaegigol, Daeseung falls in Jangsudae, Okneotang. |

There are numerous cliffs Mt. Sorak and ice falls which are formed by heavy snowfalls and cold weather during winter, so Mt. sorak is the best place for a rock- and ice- climbing (so Mt. sorak is most attractive palce to rock-climbers and ice ridge-climbers).

Mt. sorak, for the harmony of the mountain and sea, is a gift from the mother nature. It's east side is bounded by The East sea.
The neighboring mountain is studded with famous seashores, ski resorts, spas, temples, etc. It waits for visitors with its beautiful attractions and well established accomodations.

Sorak National Park was appointed as Natural Monument No.171 in Sept, 1965 and a National Park No.5 in 1970.
In addition, as a habitat of rare species, it was appointed as the first Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1982.
